Not true to their word

I bought a Nikon Coolpix camera off amazon, to replace an earlier model I had damaged. I like the camera, so figured why not repeat the experience (down to ordering off amazon!) a expected, the product was delivered in a timely manner and was not damaged, and there was a bonus - on the product box was a promotional sticker, telling me to register the camera within thirty days of purchase to extend my guarantee by 12 months (something nice to hear for someone who had accidentally damaged their last camera!) So I registered my camera on their website, only to find no place I could apply for the extension. When I contacted the company to ask for details, "customer service" asked for a picture of this sticker, and then promptly told me the offer had expired. I peeled away the sticker (which was an expanding one) and could no mention of an expiry date. Telling Nikon that this was terrible treatment of a customer and I would go to the Better Business Bureau, they asked where I had purchased the camera, and promptly told me to complain to amazon.
Nikon needs to realise they need to treat repeat customers better, and that they should kindly specify expiration dates on promotions! Saying "oh, sorry, that offer expired 5 months ago, go moan to someone else (whom we didn't even interact with directly)" is NOT good business conduct! If you are in the habit of working with distributors, it is VITAL that you clearly specify the terms of any offer.
